Posts: 624 09/29/09 11:31:11	Tags : None I pulled this from another site but doesn't look good. I have to say yesterday's show was just plain awful. Between the boring gigi/schulyer and Todd/Tea's nuptuials (I mean really WTH was that-TSJ needs his butt canned with how he's acting as todd, he so doesn't give a flip) OL story-telling has been in the crapper for a while. It's sad to say I'm to the point it wouldn't bother me that much even though this is a show I've been watching on/off since I was a little gal (mid 80s) to watching all the time from the mid 90s to now. Everyone says soaps are dying but they are dying because the writers and TIIC are all into gimmicks and crap/lazy writing. " They're dropping like flies! After scraping by for another year when ABC passed on The Aisha Tyler Show, One Life To Live doesn't look like it stands another chance! TV Guide is reporting that "One Life will be canceled next year barring a ratings miracle." Rumor has it As The World Turns could be axed as well. Do U still watch the soaps? What do U think about the potential cancellations?

Posts: 1873 09/29/09 20:28:27	This show is really bad and has been for years. They don't tell stories anymore, they tell hyped-up, unbelievable events to try to get viewers. It doesn't work, we want stories that make sense with characters we like (not McBain, stripper-girl, Coal, etc). Alas, ABC has no clue what made OLTL so great in the 60s, 70s and 80s. I hope OLTL survives because I keep hoping it will get better. I will be very sad the day OLTL is canceled. I still love this show - even though I hate it. tallk OLTL is doomed

Posts: 1376 09/30/09 11:03:06 Registered User	but that doesn't mean OLTL is not in trouble. The current soap reporter for TV guide is a colorful Canadian writer/personality named Nelson Branco. Where he can make a stir, his style/reporting is far from objective - and not always accurate. That doesn't mean in this case that he isn't reporting what others are at least thinking.

Posts: 625 10/01/09 15:52:07	Even though this soap has become more of a pain-in-the-ass habit to watch, I would be ticked off it got the boot. What I don't get is why OLTL would get the boot over AMC. Across the board I read where OLTL is better then AMC, has better ratings, so why would they be the first to get the axe of AMC? Of course GH is not in the running at the moment even though I think it's one of the worst soaps around, I mean all that mob crap for years and Jason Quartermaine makes Cris look deep and interesting. I don't get it. I don't want to see the end of my favorite families and seeing blair and todd and so and so scattered to the likes of Pine Valley. I don't CARE about Pine Valley, if I did I would watch AMC as well. Keep in mind all of this is just heavy rumors at this point. It is possible if they do some coup d'tat casting (bringing mitch back) that OL could do a turn around here in the next year. Especially if AMC doesn't work out on the west coast with half the cast getting trimmed. I still say they would be the first to go over OLTL.

Posts: 1377 10/01/09 21:46:29 Registered User	AMC may be getting poorer ratings, but has had more success over the years of its' run - more supercouples and more name recognition (Read: Erica Kane is sexier than Viki or Dorian.) However, I have to point out again that Nelson is colorful reading, but often very biased.

The show basically blows for me, don't get me started on how they auction off Blair's soul to Tea everytime she oozes into town... it offends my sense of fairness to the point of madness. Not building another TotallyTodian, not writing any more fan fiction.... Dark as it was in those days, I felt some optimism about Llanview. Not feeling it anymore, and I used to feel it so much. Now, it just makes me sad. In my heart, I hope it isn't true, because OLTL has been a fixture in my life for thirty or so years. Slowest suicide ever, IMHO and it started in 1996 when the Rat bought ABC from Capitol Cities. Todd not Podd
